GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION
The incumbent is responsible for providing nutritional guidance to clients, ensuring dietary needs are met in alignment with their mental health treatment plans.

QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Registered Dietitian (RD) or Licensed Dietitian (LD) in the state of Arkansas.
  2. Experience working with adults with serious mental illness is preferred.
  3. Strong leadership skills and experience supervising dietary staff.
  4. Knowledge of nutrition programs and regulations, including those related to behavioral health settings.
  5. Ability to manage and adhere to a budget for food service.
  6. This position is crucial in supporting the holistic health of our members, contributing to their recovery and long-term wellness.
  7. Valid driver’s license

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Assess and develop individualized nutrition plans for members, considering their medical and mental health conditions.
  2. Supervise the dietary staff, ensuring proper meal preparation and adherence to established nutritional guidelines (ServSafe-Certified). 
  3. Oversee the implementation of the Adult Nutrition Program, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations, and working with DON to obtain orders for modifications.
  4. Participate in staffings, collaborating with the treatment team to integrate nutritional care into overall client treatment plans.
  5. Educate members on healthy eating habits, food choices, and meal planning to promote mental and physical well-being.
  6. Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of dietary plans, making adjustments as necessary to support client progress.
  7. Meet with all Dietary Supervisors monthly and maintain minutes of the meeting.
  8. Stay updated on the latest research and guidelines related to nutrition and mental health. 
  9. Maintains open communication with the Chief Operations Officer.
  10. Must demonstrate organizational skills in a leadership role by using a team approach, assuring adequate service delivery, while assuring compliance with all policies and procedures.
  11. Builds and maintains positive relationship with food sales representative.
  12. Work within an established budget for food procurement and meal planning, ensuring cost-effective solutions while maintaining high nutritional standards.
  13. Provide orientation and training to dietary supervisors upon hiring and as needed.
  14. Demonstrate compliance with all Birch policies and procedures and commitment to the Birch mission and philosophy.
  15. The ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.
  16. Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.
