GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION
The incumbent is responsible to provide medical care to the members at the branch level. This position will also be responsible for providing various services with the staff such as drug screens, TB tests, first aid and other duties as necessary.
QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty mentioned satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
- Must be a graduate from an approved school of Professional Nursing and hold a current Registered Nurse license by the Arkansas State Board of Nursing. Experience is preferred but not required.
- Current licensure as a Registered Nurse by the Arkansas State Board of Nursing.
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Must attend monthly Nurses meetings.
- Must complete individual pharmacological interventions as assigned.
- Adequate documentation must be present in nursing notes.
- Must have the knowledge and ability to use QBHP/MHPP, Averting Crisis & Emergency Holds Training, CPR and First Aid Certification.
- Must have completed co-occurring training.
- Must complete and document in a timely and responsible manner initial and ongoing physical evaluations, screens, and assessments.
- Must complete and document in a timely, responsible manner all specimen collections and ensure routine lab work is completed.
- Provide direct services to members and consultation to staff, i.e. concerning medication, physical condition, informed consent, treatment planning, appropriate services, referral & discharge planning, entitlements, etc.
- Must demonstrate organizational skills in a leadership role by using a team approach, assuring adequate service delivery, while assuring compliance with all policies and procedures.
- Knowledgeable of current standards of nursing practice and be in compliance with standards.
- Be responsible for medication management and teaching in compliance with policies, procedures, and standards of nursing.
- Must have knowledge of Birch Tree Communities’ policies and procedures, ensuring compliance, and notifying the Director of Nursing and Infection Control of recommendations for improvement.
- Must have knowledge and be in compliance of all record and documentation requirements.
- Responsible for monitoring the health and safety of members.
- Will be responsible for alerting the Director of Nursing and Infection Control of all adverse drug reactions and occupational exposures.
- Responsible for monitoring symptoms of mental and physical illness and reporting any concerns to appropriate person(s) and coordinating external referrals for medical conditions as needed.
- Work closely with psychiatrist, nurse practitioners, and physicians and actively participate on the Interdisciplinary Treatment Team.
- Will be required to teach and provide health education and information to staff, i.e. recognizing medical emergencies, medication side effects, supervision of medication, Hepatitis B vaccine, occupational exposures, etc.
- Open communication with the Director of Nursing and Infection Control.
