The Big Announcement is finally out—and it’s one for the history books.
We are proud to officially announce the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for the Old River Bridge on Tuesday, June 24, 2025 at 10:00 AM. For the first time in over 50 years, our community will take its first steps across this iconic bridge, originally opened on July 15, 1891.
After being out of commission since April 12, 1974, when a truck hauling concrete bricks fell through its floor, the Old River Bridge has undergone a remarkable transformation. What was once a forgotten relic is now a symbol of renewal—and soon, a vital link in the 65-mile Southwest Trail, a bicycle and pedestrian path that will connect Pulaski, Saline, and Garland Counties.
📍 Event Location: Near 2215 Airlane Dr. Benton, AR 72015
